Holsworthy Ales is a micro-brewery situated in the heart of Devon's Ruby Country in Clawton, Holsworthy. Brewing began commercially in June 2011 with the aim of producing distinctive, interesting, well-hopped yet balanced beers. With the sole exception of Bee Merry (which contains honey) all of Holsworthy Ales' wide range of ales are vegan friendly in both bottle and draught form. The intention is to make the beers taste as clean and natural as possible so no chemicals are added to the beautiful soft Devon water and no finings are used in any of the ales.
Our aim has always been to supply our beers locally, so they are exclusive and unique to our area. Producing beer and supplying to local outlets has great appeal, reducing food miles and beer travelling time. This approach also allows us to build a good relationship with licensees and the local community.
You can see the brewery and taste a range of our beers at the brewery shop. Click here to see our opening times. We also hold regular open evenings (once a month) where we offer at least 6 beers on draught and are joined by local food producers to offer some tempting food. See our events page for more details.
We are pleased to have received awards from North Devon CAMRA including "Mine's a Mild" winning the Bronze award for the South West region in 2019, winning the "Brewery of the Year" award in 2014 and 2015, and our stout, "Tamar Black" winning the Silver award for the South West region in 2015.
